Robert Lepage, one of theater’s most imaginative directors, applies his artistry to Berlioz’s contemplation of good and evil. Using ethereal projections, Lepage has created a vision for La Damnation de Faust that seamlessly marries art and technology. Marcello Giordani stars in the title role opposite Susan Graham as Marguerite and John Relyea as Méphistophélès. James Levine conducts this rarely staged masterwork. Virginia Opera's Annual Gala finally returns home to Norfolk's spectacular Harrison Opera House this season. The grand fundraising ball features an elegant evening of dinner, dancing and entertainment. If you attended Galas in years past, you know you will not want to miss this festive celebration! The Virginia Opera Guild is hard at work on the details and promises this event will be even better than the last. In recognition of Virginia Opera’s all-Italian season, an Italian festival theme has been chosen, featuring a piazza marketplace that will come alive with strolling musicians and more.
Going Once, Going Twice…Going Online! The online auction prior to the Gala will be open from Feb. 4 through Feb. 18, 2009. The auction will include a number of items that will be available online only. These will be accompanied by items that will have bidding continued through the evening of the Gala.
