Jeff Corriveau (Director of Education and Audience Development)
Mr. Corriveau is in his ninth season with Virginia Opera and has worked in the arts for the past 20 years professionally and academically; directing, designing, acting and coaching more than 250 productions throughout the U.S. He received his M.F.A. from Lindenwood University, in Directing, an M.A. from the University of Maine Orono, in Theatre History and Criticism, and his B.A. from Franklin Pierce College, in Performance/Directing and Scenic Design/Stage Management. Mr. Corriveau has had the pleasure of working professionally with such notables as former First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton, Lily Tomlin, Gregory Hines, Bruno Kirby, Ed Begley, Jr. and Bill Cosby in both television and stage performances. He has taught Acting, Voice/Diction and Dialects, Theatre History, Stagecraft and Multicultural Theatre at various theatres, colleges and universities across the country. Mr. Corriveau published his work WAITING FOR GODOT: A VAUDEVILLIAN APPROACH, has presented workshops at The Kennedy Center in conjunction with Opera for Youth on Creating an Interactive Residency and Incorporating the Arts into Your State Curriculum and at the National Opera America Conference on Developing Audiences and the Next Generation. He continues to work as an educator for the Kids Voting U.S.A. programs Destination Democracy and Civics Alive! Mr. Corriveau has co-created two new Virginia Opera programs I Hear America Singing! and History Alive!Mr. Corriveau has received awards from the Kennedy Center for his Scenic Designs of WEST SIDE STORY and HURLYBURLY, a Portfolio Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy and has been nominated for the National Arts Medal and twice for an Alli Award. Mr. Corriveau also serves as adjunct faculty for Christopher Newport University and President of the Little Theatre of Norfolk.

Laura Wigginton (Education Program Director)
A native of the Hampton Roads area, Ms. Wigginton completed her MFA in costume production from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and holds a B.S. in Theatre from Radford University.  Before joining Virginia Opera as the company's education coordinator, Ms. Wigginton worked at The Lost Colony in North Carolina for three seasons as the costume shop manager and worked as a cutter/draper and costume project manager at PlayMakers Repertory Company. She also worked for three seasons at the Virginia Stage Company in Norfolk and has worked in television at New Dominion Pictures on The New Detectives, The Prosecutors, and FBI Files.

Glenn Winters (Community Outreach Musical Director)
Dr. Winters received his Doctor of Music from Northwestern University and his B.M. and M.M. in piano performance from Indiana University. His background includes teaching college-level piano, arts administration at two universities, and extensive performing experience as solo pianist and accompanist.  As an operatic baritone, Dr. Winters has sung over a dozen principal roles, including a guest appearance with the Operafestival di Roma in Rome, Italy, where he also served as Chorus Master.  His original educational opera History Alive! will be performed in Virginia schools by the Virginia Opera's educational touring program in 2007.  He joined Virginia Opera’s Education and Audience Development department in 2004 as Community Outreach Musical Director.

Candy Leibundguth (Education Special Projects Coordinator)
Mrs. Leibundguth is a former music teacher and singer who has worked with the Education Department of Virginia Opera since 1993. She graduated from Douglass College of Rutgers University in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music. As a member of the Education Department, Candy wrote the original children's opera programs Freedom's Journey, The New Adventures of Alice in Opera Land, and Highlights of Porgy and Bess. In 1996, she developed Virginia Opera's Adopt-a-School Program originating in Hampton Roads and expanded to Richmond and Northern Virginia. Additionally, Candy has produced numerous teacher resource materials and study guides, prepared training classes for Virginia Opera Docents, and written articles for Virginia Opera's magazine, Opera Voice.
