The Daughter of the Regiment opens Saturday in Norfolk

Virginia Opera's sparkingly comic opera Donizetti's "The Daughter of the Regiment" opens Saturday, Nov. 14th at 8:00 p.m. at Norfolk's famous Harrison Opera House!

Fight for the one you love...

Raised by a French regiment, Marie happily traverses the Alps eventually falling in love with Tonio. She then discovers her regal family ties, ventures home to become ‘a lady’ and is asked to marry a Duke. What will she do?

Don't miss French-born soprano Manon Strauss Evrard is Marie and tenor Gennard Lombardozzi is Tonio. Manon Strauss Evrard made her Virginia Opera debut as the heroines in Offenbach's "Tales of Hoffmann", and returned for the title role in Donizetti's "Lucia di Lammermoor" and last season for Rossini's "The Barber of Seville." Gennard Lombardozzi is making his Virginia Opera debut.

Additional performance options in Norfolk include Nov. 18 (7:30 p.m.), Nov. 20 (8:00 p.m.) and Nov. 22 (2:30 p.m.). Virginia Opera also performs Donizetti's "The Daughter of the Regiment" in Richmond and Fairfax.
